Epson Laser Projectors Power light Exhibition at KANEKO

LONG BEACH, Calif. and OMAHA, Neb. – Nov. 28, 2017 – Epson, the number-one selling projector brand worldwide, and KANEKO today announced a partnership empowering artists to bring their vision to life in a new exhibition called light. As the presenting sponsor, Epson will provide an invaluable piece to the exhibition with its large venue Pro L1505U laser projectors, offering bright, vivid imagery and reliable technology.

Leveraging four of Epson’s Pro L1505U large venue laser projectors, award-winning media artist and designer Refik Anadol will use the projectors high image quality and flexibility in his audiovisual installation project ‘Infinity’ – an immersive 7-foot by 7-foot environment that creates a perception of presence in a non-physical world. Using contemporary methods, the project will deconstruct the framework of false space and lapse the normal boundaries of the viewing experience by transforming the conventional flat cinema projection screen into a three-dimensional moving space of visualization. Delivering incredible, bright imagery in a compact form, the Pro L1505U projectors enable Anadol to create his visual art immersion with Epson’s advanced technology.

“As the major element in my ‘Infinity’ experiment, light is used to blur and interconnect the boundaries between actual and physical realms as the gateway between the space created by the projection technology and physical space,” said Anadol. “With new challenges in developing an immersive environment, it is key for me to be able to focus on the entire visual art experience, and with Epson’s Pro L1505U laser projectors I can focus all my attention on the art, without worrying about the technology.”

“Viewers of the ‘Infinity’ installation will be able to fully appreciate the seamless convergence of art and technology with the support of Epson’s Pro L1505U laser projectors,” said Gavin Downey, senior product manager, Epson America, Inc. “From sharper images and brilliant colors, to the flexibility an artist needs to bring their artistic vision to life without the drawbacks of restrictive technology equipment, our large venue projector solutions are robust enough to provide the utmost support artists need for a limitless creative experience.”

A large part of the light exhibition relies on audience participation, with a variety of performances, lectures, youth education, and hands-on creative experiences to connect visitors with their own creativity. Artists will employ glass, sculpture and light itself to showcase the beauty that light evokes aesthetically and thematically. The public will also gain insight into scientific issues such as vision and optics, physiology of light energy, sustainability, light pollution, and conservation.

"We are very grateful and excited that Epson and Refik Anadol have selected KANEKO and Omaha as a space to showcase the globally revealed and enormous creative power of the ‘Infinity’ experiment,” said Chris Hochstetler, MPA, executive director, KANEKO. “We are certain that the work will take all of us to a place we have never experienced."
